infographic. What caravans are made in Australia

It is good to know what caravans are built in Australia. So we have compiled a list of brands built in our back yard.

Even though a lot of the vans are built here, some of the parts can be manufactured overseas and then pre-assembled here in Oz.

So just be mindful that not all the caravan manufactures will build every little piece (or source it from Australia.) of the caravan from scratch. Raw materials and caravan parts and accessories do get made overseas.

What caravans are made in Australia?

Also some caravans brands will make the majority of vans here, but some economical models are manufactured overseas and the just pre-assembled here. Or the majority of parts anyway.

Caravans made Australia.

It is a bit like buying some canned tomatoes or food from Aldi, the tin might say on the label, Australian made, but in small print the ingredients are sourced from overseas.

So some extra homework might be required if you want a, true blue built best caravan brand in Australia. (Try saying that fast 10 times.)

The list of caravans built in Australia also has some manufactures who build off road caravans, camper trailers and tent trailers included in the mix.

Australian Made? Be Mindful Of Misleading Claims

Some websites may use language that initially suggests their product is Australian-made, but it’s important to investigate further to confirm this. You may need to do some additional research or reach out to the manufacturer directly for verification.

Examples of potentially misleading phrasing include:

  • “Australian owned & operated” – while the business may be locally owned, the product may not necessarily be made in Australia.
  • “Built for Australian conditions” – the product may be specifically designed for use in Australia, but not necessarily manufactured in Australia.
  • “Local factory” – the product may be assembled in Australia, but may still use imported components or materials.
  • “Designed in Australia” – while the product may have been conceptualized or designed in Australia, it may not necessarily be manufactured here.
  • “Australian caravan manufacturer” – the company may be based in Australia, but the caravans may still be mostly manufactured overseas.

As new caravan brands continue to emerge and existing businesses alter their structures, it is possible that you some manufacturers be removed from the list and other manufactures added.

Why Choose an Australian Made Caravan?

When it comes to purchasing a caravan, you have plenty of options to choose from. However, one factor that can make a difference in your purchase decision is choosing an Australian made caravan. While it may be tempting to opt for a cheaper imported option, there are several compelling reasons why you should consider investing in an Australian made caravan.

Firstly, buying an Australian made caravan supports the local economy. By purchasing a locally made product, you are contributing to the growth of the Australian manufacturing industry and supporting local jobs. Additionally, you can have peace of mind knowing that your purchase is contributing to the country’s overall economic well-being.

Secondly, Australian made caravans are built to withstand the harsh Australian climate. Australia’s diverse geography and climate can be challenging for caravans, especially those that are not built to withstand the harsh weather conditions. Australian made caravans are designed with the country’s climate in mind, ensuring that they are equipped to handle the harsh conditions, including extreme heat, cold, and wind.

Thirdly, Australian made caravans are constructed with superior quality materials. The Australian manufacturing industry is known for its high-quality standards, and this is reflected in the materials used to construct caravans. From the chassis to the cabinetry, every aspect of an Australian made caravan is designed with durability and longevity in mind. This means that you can expect your caravan to last for years, even decades, with proper maintenance.

Finally, purchasing an Australian made caravan provides you with access to local support and expertise. If you have any issues with your caravan or require maintenance, you can easily access local support and expertise. This ensures that your caravan is always in top condition and ready for your next adventure.

Another interesting point is the amount of manufactures that also have started making off road caravans and camper trailers, toy haulers and even some RV motorhomes.

Ensure you do your homework on the brands and models, so you get a good van and not a lemon. Check the Caravanning and RV forums and talk to some camping groups about the best caravans and worst brands they had dealings with.

Ensure that you get the correct caravan insurance in Australia when you do decide to purchase your van. And just like shopping around for a caravan or RV, shop around for insurance.
