This article was originally going to be about, “What camper trailers are made in Australia?” But going through all the information on the camper trailers, it was very difficult to find out exactly what was made here 100% and what wasn’t.
Some manufactures would say Australian owned and made, but they would buy the buy the trailer overseas and just put it together here.
So in this article we have changed it to, what camper trailer brands are in Australia? We include a list of brands of camper trailers, hybrid campers and trailer tents. While a fair few of these camper trailers are made in Australia, a lot of the raw materials, or parts may be made overseas such as China.
It is surprising the amount of camper trailer manufacturers, sellers and models available down under. As well as your normal camper trailer, you can get full off-road camper trailers for sale that are really designed for off the beaten track.

Check out the second hand camper trailers on the camping and caravanning forums, where you might find a good deal. Caravan and camper trailers on Gumtree are another place to look for camper trailers for sale in Melbourne, Sydney and other areas.
Caravan dealers and camper trailer manufacturers sometimes can have a great sale on older models, or help find the right camper for you.
Conclusion
Australian made camper trailers and the brands available of camper trailers in Oz, is growing every year.
But before buying a camper trailer, check the warranty for the fine print of what is covered if something brakes, or doesn’t work as it should.
Do some research for any mentioned lemon brands or models on the forums. The camping and caravanning forums are good places to discover some issues with the manufactures and designs. (Although the forums can get a bit heated sometimes.)
Before you buy a camper trailer, just be mindful that some cheaper models are fully made overseas like China.
Other camper trailers have major parts are brought in from overseas, then assembled here.
So while a caravan, off-road van or camper trailer builder might state, made in Australia, technically it was only really assembled here. Having said this though, a lot of raw materials and parts are manufactured overseas anyway. So it might be a balance and compromise between price and quality.
What is acceptable for the buyer? Does it have to be made fully in our backyard, or is it okay for it to be made 80% overseas. Price, design and quality all come into consideration.
